The Slab City Christian Center is run by Pastor Smiley, an ex-Marine, who was given the congregation three years prior by Pastor Phil. Because Slab City is completely off the grid - no water, electricity or sewers, Smiley has limited water available for residents in need as the temperatures climb to 125F. Smiley is letting Paul Lineberger live in the kitchen trailer, seen here walking inside.
